The Chamber of Commerce met on the 10th of August, 2009. The Secretary's report was read and approved. The Treasurer's Report of $7,418.96 was read and approved. Matt Reedy said total profit brought in from Festival Days was right at $1,177.00 Old Business: Festival Days - Glenn Parsons suggested we look into the full price of Dustin Evans for next year as he has heard the singer costs way more than the Chamber paid this year. Glenn said it would be nice to be prepared if Dustin does cost more. Corky Thorson said signage and stationed cops might be useful for the Saddle Bronc Match Ride during Festival Days as drivers coming west of Highway 14 didn't have much time to slow down for pedestrians. Codi Mills gave a report on the Haakon/Jackson County Fair. Numbers were down, mail due to weather, but there was something for everyone to take part in. New Business: Ron & Trisha Larson told those in attendance about their new business, Home Computer Services. Ron has been helping those in Philip, Kadoka and Murdo with their home computer problems since March through his business. He is also able to help local businesses with any computer issues they face. It was commented that it was great to have such a service in Philp so people didnn't have to drive all the way to Rapid City for repairs and troubleshooting. More discussion was held on the other services Philip still needs. Milo Zeeb suggested a survey should be conducted to see what people still believe is lacking. Kent Olson invited everyone to a meeting August 11 to talk about branding Philip and the possibility of a new slogan and logo. The new slogan will hopefully be revealed during Homecoming on Oct 2nd. The chili cook-off will be held again this year. Date is yet to be set, but it will coincide with one of the home football games. Milo says he has heard lots of talk about the chamber website. He asked for volunteers to make up a website committee that would look into the current website, its maintenance andd functionality. Don Ravellette and Ron Larson volunteered. The meeting was adjourned.
