Featured Members - EYE CARE CENTER - Drs Lynn Tucker & Falon Young,
Actually there are two more at the Clinic, Drs Gaylene Kudrna & Bill J. Holec. But I felt lucky that I got to snag two, maybe I can get the others at a later interview. I'm sure it would be interesting to hear their stories also. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
This was another one of the fun ones! We covered both a little of professional and personal history in this one. I know that I keep saying each one is ‘special' or ‘fun' but they truly are. Each one has been a unique and interesting story that has made them all memorable.
I got a special treat, as one of my favourite ‘son-in-laws' was instrumental in the eye clinic locating here. Well actually he is my only son-in-law, David. As is my SOP, I like to brag on my kids.
Back to the business at hand. Dr. Lynn Tucker is a fascinating individual, and he is the one that furnished the history of the Clinic.
In 1989/90 the Senior Dr. Corwin & Dr. Lynn Tucker bought the Clinic operated by Tom Garrity & Al Dano in Kadoka. When David approached them about locating in the ‘New Office' being planned for the Philip Health services medical complex. They located in Philip. The original Drs. were the senior Dr. Corwin, Dr. Tucker and Dr. Al Dana.
Dr. Tucker related that they were proud to put their name with this project in Philip. That Philip was a town that was looking to the future and to expansion.
At this point, Dr. Tucker more or less started to reminisce of the staff that had worked for him. I am going into dangerous territory now, as I'm sure that I will not remember all the names that he related to me. but if I do omit someone I hope he will forgive me. Bouman, McQuirk, Daly, Baye, Schofield.
You could tell that he was reliving some special thought or event as he rattled off the names. He is such a quiet introverted type person. But you get the sense that he appreciates his interaction with people.
Before I move on into the personal side of this interview, I'm going to share with you a little of his qualities. He is a coach for the Little League, the day that I was there someone dropped of a shirt for him. I am going to break tradition and have two pictures for this article. The following is the shirt that he received because he had some players on the team that went on to play in the NATIONAL LITTLE LEAGUE GAMES this year.
Now we will get to the ‘pretty' one of this interview. One of the newest members of this team, Dr. Falon Young. She has been to Philip a couple of times, but she will be here more often in the future. (Every 3rd Tues of the Month.)
Dr. Young is such a cute little thing, she doesn't look old enough to carry the title and experience that she does. When you first meet her, your impression is ‘the girl next door' or ‘The all American girl.'
She is the daughter of Tim & Patti Sandness. Tim has a car dealership in Mitchell and Patti is in a restaurant/bar. She has one brother Bo. Falon graduated from Mitchell High School in 1999. Got her undergraduate at USD and Optometry in Chicago.
I'm having trouble deciding what to call her - Falon doesn't seem professional enough, but Dr. seems to formal for this cute little bubbling person setting across the table. I'll try to use she as much as possible. J
She said she has always wanted to be a Dr. in the medical field, ever since she was little. While in school she worked at the Clinic in Mitchell for about 5 years. Whats more she still loves her profession.
I asked Dr. Falon who her mentor or idol was, after a brief moment of hesitation and remarking that that was a tough question, she says "her Father, she has always looked up to him, he has made his life a success both personally and in business.
During her school years, she was active in Cheerleading and gymnastics , now this vision fits her!
Falon married her highschool sweethart. They have gone together for ten years. They just got married in October of 2007. The two of them like to hike, travel , spend time with their friends. Both in Chicago and Montana.
Tony Young works as a Credit Analyist for GE Money Bank. He went to dakota Weslyn for his degree in Business and Computers. Tony spent 3 years in the Air Force.
His parents Keith & Kathy Young have two other sons. Tom is in Medical School and Mike is in Archtecture.
Once again this has been a memoriable event, thanks to both Dr. Tucker and Dr. Young.
