SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
2:30 - 4:30 - Philip Tours
2:30 - 5:30 - Project 8, parking lot north of Philip High School - South Dakota's effort to keep kids safe by making sure they are in the best child seat for their height & weight until they are at least 8 years old. Project 8 will distribute child seats to income-eligible families. This is open to the public so bring your vehicles & child seats with you!
2:30 - 5:30 - Fatal Vision Driving Course, parking lot north of Philip High School - It's not safe to drive after you've been drinking, and this will prove it. So come take the Department of Public Safety's Impaired Driving Simulation & hopefully, the results will prevent you from getting behind the wheel after you've been drinkin.
3:30 - 4:00 - Governor's meeting with local student (by invitation only)
4:30 - 5:30 - Capital for a Day Expo, Philip High School Armory *This is your opportunity to talk one-on-one with Governor Rounds, cabinet, and elected officials to learn about services the state offers. First Lady Jean Rounds will be present to sell & sign copies of the S.D. Governors Residence Cookbook - A Culinary Legacy Celebrating the First Families of South Dakota.
5:30 - 6:30 - Dinner Event, Philip High School - The community is invited to dine with all Capital for a Day participants. Advance meal tickets are required for $5.00 each. Tickets are available at First National Bank, The Pioneer Review, and the City Finance Office.
6:00 - Governor's Remarks, Philip High School Fine Arts Building - The governor will speak briefly & then ask for questions & advice from the community.
This is the community's day to get informed and ask questions of the many State Offices that will be here.We hope that you will take the time to participant in as many events as possible during the day. Remember, this event is for you!!!
